Overview

The Voigtlander 58mm F1.4 Nokton SL II is a manual-focus lens with all-metal construction and a classic design. Optically, it offers excellent center sharpness wide open, but corners are soft until stopped down to f/5.6-f/11. Vignetting is pronounced at f/1.4 (2.56 stops) but uniform distortion is very low (1.16%). Chromatic aberrations are well controlled. The focus ring is smooth but slightly stiff, and the aperture ring has full-stop clicks only. It suits photographers who value vintage character and solid build over autofocus and edge-to-edge sharpness.
