The Voigtlander Ultra Wide Heliar 12mm F5.6 Aspherical II is an extremely wide, compact lens with solid all-metal build and smooth focus and aperture rings. Optically, it delivers good center sharpness but only decent borders, with strong vignetting (~2 stops on APS-C, ~2.8 on full-frame) and a blue colorcast. Distortion is low (~1.5% barrel), flare resistance is good, and chromatic aberrations are well controlled. The fixed hood prevents filter use. It suits landscape and architecture shooters who prioritize extreme width and build quality over corner sharpness and even illumination.
