Overview

The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.8 II EVO is a compact, lightweight (330-354g) lens with solid metal build, a de-clickable aperture ring, and weather sealing at the mount. Optically, it delivers outstanding center sharpness from f/1.8 and very good corners, with very low distortion (~0.3% pincushion) and effective APO correction for chromatic aberrations. Weaknesses include noticeable vignetting at f/1.8 (2.7 EV) and a substandard minimum focus distance of 0.34m. Autofocus is quiet and adequate but not the fastest. At $395, it offers excellent value for photographers seeking a high-performing, characterful 35mm prime for everyday use.
