Overview

The Tokina AT-X Pro 16-50mm f/2.8 DX offers a useful wide-to-portrait range equivalent to 24-75mm. Optically, it shows heavy barrel distortion at 16mm (~3.55%) but very good control beyond that. Build quality is excellent with a metal alloy and high-quality plastics, though the zoom mechanism has some play at 50mm. The manual focus ring placement and One-touch Focus Clutch can be confusing. At 610g, it is heavy. It suits users wanting a fast, durable standard zoom for APS-C, especially those prioritizing build over perfect distortion control.
