The Sony DT 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 SAM II is a standard kit zoom for APS-C Sony Alpha cameras, offering a 27-83mm equivalent range. Optically, it provides decent center sharpness, especially stopped down to f/8 at 24mm, but corners are softer and performance at 55mm is weakest. Chromatic aberration is well-controlled except at 18mm, and vignetting is noticeable only at wide angles.
