12–24mm · f/4.5–5.6
The Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG Aspherical HSM is the world’s widest rectilinear zoom for full-frame SLRs, offering a unique 12mm field of view. Optical strengths include good image quality and extreme wide-angle capability. Weaknesses are slow variable aperture, no front filter thread (only rear gel filters), and heavy build. Build quality is impressive with smooth controls, but the lens feels cheap and heavy compared to rivals. It suits full-frame users needing extreme wide angles, but for APS-C or digital, Nikon/Canon alternatives are superior.
