Overview

The Samyang AF 12mm F2 (also Rokinon) is a compact, lightweight ultra-wide prime for APS-C Sony E-mount, offering a fast f/2 aperture suited for astrophotography and landscapes. Optically, it delivers excellent center sharpness wide open, with good corner performance when stopped down to f/2.8–f/5.6. Weaknesses include heavy vignetting at f/2 and some barrel distortion. Build quality is solid with weather sealing and a metal mount. Autofocus is snappy and near-silent. It suits APS-C shooters wanting an affordable, fast wide-angle for low-light and astro work, but is not designed for full-frame use.
