Overview

The Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC offers exceptional optical quality for its low price, with very good sharpness wide open and outstanding resolution from f/2.8 onward. It exhibits moderate barrel distortion (~1.6%) and heavy vignetting at f/1.4, though better than the Nikon equivalent. Bokeh is somewhat busy and longitudinal CA is present at wide apertures. Build is not as solid as Sigma’s, and it is manual focus only with no electronic contacts. It suits budget-conscious photographers needing a fast 35mm for landscape, street, or reportage.
