Overview
The Samyang 85mm F1.8 ED UMC CS offers excellent central sharpness from f/1.8 to f/11, with edges also very good. Chromatic aberration is well controlled centrally, though some edge CA may appear. Bokeh is smooth and creamy, ideal for portraits. Build quality is solid with a well-damped focus ring and positive aperture clicks. It is fully manual, which suits astrophotography due to smooth focus and mechanical aperture. Some copies may show decentering. Best for budget-conscious portrait and astro photographers who prefer manual control.
