Overview
The Panasonic Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm F2.8 ASPH OIS is a compact, lightweight macro lens with solid build and smooth manual focus. Optically, it delivers outstanding center sharpness from f/2.8, with peak performance at f/4-f/5.6, and near-zero distortion. Chromatic aberrations are minimal. However, bokeh can show nervous transitions near the focal plane at wider apertures. The focus-by-wire system lacks tactile feedback and distance markings, which may frustrate manual focus users. It suits macro and reproduction work, but as a general-purpose lens its f/2.8 aperture offers limited subject separation.
