Overview
The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 35-100mm F4.0-5.6 ASPH Mega OIS is an ultra-compact telephoto zoom for Micro Four Thirds, equivalent to 70-200mm. Its main strength is exceptional portability: it collapses to about 50mm and weighs 135g, ideal for travel and small bodies like the GM5. Optically, it delivers excellent center sharpness at most settings, with slight corner softness wide open that clears by f/8. Chromatic aberration and distortion are well controlled, largely via in-camera correction. Build uses metal mount and plastic barrel; the collapsible mechanism feels solid but the inner tube can wobble slightly. Autofocus is fast and quiet. It suits photographers prioritizing a lightweight, affordable telephoto for travel or street photography, but not those needing f/2.8 for low light or shallow depth of field.
