Overview

The Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm F2.8G ED is a 1:1 macro lens with internal focusing and a silent wave motor. Optically, it is extremely sharp, especially at f/5.6, with excellent central sharpness wide open and only minor corner softness. It improves on its predecessor in sharpness and autofocus accuracy. Build quality is sturdy plastic with a smooth manual focus ring. Weaknesses include a short working distance (2 inches at 1:1) that can block light and occasional AF hunting (MingThein). It suits photographers needing a versatile normal-to-short-telephoto macro for FX/DX, but for serious macro, a longer lens is recommended.
