Overview

The Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D is an older, well-built lens with a metal mount and non-rotating filter thread. Optically, it offers excellent center sharpness, but corners are soft until f/5.6, with resolution peaking at f/8. Chromatic aberration is notable until f/4. Autofocus is slow and noisy, and it requires a camera with a built-in focus motor. It achieves 1:1 magnification with a short working distance of about 3 inches. Best suited for macro and portrait work on DX or FX cameras, especially for users who can work around its limitations.
