Overview

The Nikon AF Nikkor 35mm f/2D is a compact, lightweight prime lens praised for its sharp center wide open and good overall image quality. However, it suffers from soft corners until f/4, noticeable vignetting at f/2 and f/2.8, and some chromatic aberration in high-contrast scenes wide open. Build quality is solid plastic with a tight fit, but it lacks weather sealing and uses external focusing. It's an excellent budget option for FX shooters needing a fast, small lens, but DX users may prefer the 35mm f/1.8 DX.
