Overview

The Nikon AF Nikkor 28mm f/2.8D is a lightweight (205g), compact wide-angle prime for FX and film, but on DX it behaves like a standard lens. Optically, it is soft at f/2.8 in the center and corners, with peak sharpness from f/5.6 to f/11. Vignetting is strong wide-open, and chromatic aberration is mild. Build quality is decent with a plastic barrel and metal mount, and AF is fast but audible.
