The Nikon AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D is a compact, lightweight wide-angle lens praised for excellent center sharpness even at f/2.8, with good edge sharpness by f/8. It exhibits some vignetting and chromatic aberration at wide apertures, but these are easily corrected. Build quality is solid with a metal feel, though autofocus lacks instant manual override. It suits FX and film users seeking a sharp, affordable prime, but on high-resolution sensors it shows its age, and on DX it's less recommended.
