12–24mm · f/4
The Nikon AF-S DX 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF is a historic first DX ultra-wide zoom, offering very good to excellent sharpness, especially at 24mm. Its build is decent but uses plastic, which is disappointing for its high price. Optical weaknesses include visible chromatic aberration at wide apertures and barrel distortion at 12mm. It handles well with silent AF and constant length. Best suited for DX shooters needing a tough, semi-pro ultra-wide, though it's expensive and not as wide as newer alternatives.
