    The Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 105mm F2.8G IF-ED VR is a well-built, all-metal macro lens with excellent weather sealing. Optically, it delivers extremely sharp images and is a superb general-purpose telephoto. However, significant focus breathing makes precise macro framing difficult. Its VR is helpful for hand-held shooting but less effective at close distances. It suits photographers needing a durable, compatible lens for both DSLR and mirrorless systems, but dedicated macro shooters may prefer alternatives like the 200mm f/4 AF-D.
