Overview

The Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90mm f/4 is an exceptionally compact and lightweight telephoto lens, collapsing to about the size of a 50mm lens. Optically, it delivers excellent sharpness even wide open, with nice bokeh and good subject separation for portraits. However, it is a slow f/4 lens, limiting low-light use, and the macro capability requires an adapter for only 1:2 reproduction. Build quality is high, but the collapsible design can feel slightly wobbly. It is best suited for travel and outdoor photography where size and weight are priorities.
