The Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH is widely praised for its exceptional sharpness, unique rendering, and compact build. Early versions have a bulky plastic hood, later improved to metal. Handling is superb with smooth focus and precise aperture ring. Weaknesses include limited close focus (0.7m) on versions 1 and 2, addressed in version 3 (0.4m).
