Overview

The Leica Elmarit-M 24mm f/2.8 ASPH is an ultra-high-performance wide-angle lens with excellent central sharpness at f/2.8, improving at f/5.6, though edges show some astigmatism and field curvature. It exhibits noticeable flare with aperture patterns. Build is solid but heavy in chrome/brass; a separate viewfinder is required. It suits photographers who need f/2.8 speed and accept trade-offs in flare and edge performance, but the newer Elmar-M 24mm f/3.8 may be better for flare control and flat field.
