Overview

The Laowa 200mm F2 AF FF is an ambitious, affordable 200mm f/2 prime that offers excellent build quality with metal construction, weather sealing, and a removable Arca-Swiss tripod foot. Optically, it delivers very high resolution from f/2.8 to f/5.6, but at f/2 it is slightly subdued with lower contrast and heavy vignetting (2.5 EV) that cleans up by f/2.8. Distortion is low (0.8% pincushion) and chromatic aberrations are well controlled. Autofocus is reliable for portraits and events but not fast enough for sports. It suits portrait and creative photographers seeking a distinctive, dreamy look at a lower price than competitors.
