Overview

The Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM is Canon's longest production super-telephoto lens, offering excellent image quality with sharpness wide open, low chromatic aberration, and well-controlled flare. Its main weaknesses are strong vignetting at f/5.6 and a very high price. Build quality is superb with magnesium alloy construction and weather sealing, but the lens is heavy at ~4.5 kg and challenging to handhold. It suits wildlife, sports, and news photographers who need extreme reach and can work from a tripod or monopod.
