Overview

The Canon EF 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II is a compact, lightweight telephoto zoom with very cheap build quality, including a plastic mount and no distance window. Optically, it is disappointing: sharpness requires stopping down to f/8, corners are soft at wide end, and the 5-blade aperture produces pentagonal bokeh. Autofocus is slow and noisy without USM, and there is no manual focus ring. It suits budget-conscious beginners as a starter lens, but is not ideal for action or low light.
