The Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM is a compact, inexpensive superzoom for full-frame cameras, but its optical quality is poor. It is sharp in the center but soft at the edges wide-open, requiring stopping down to f/16 for best corners. Build quality is mediocre with a stiff zoom ring and tiny manual focus ring. Autofocus is reasonably fast but noisy, and lacks full-time manual override. It suits casual photographers wanting a single-lens travel solution, but discerning users should look elsewhere.
