    The Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II is a compact, lightweight kit lens offering decent sharpness in the center, especially at 18mm, but suffers from strong barrel distortion at wide angles and prominent chromatic aberration. Build quality is plastic and feels cheap, with a noisy autofocus motor and awkward manual focus. It includes image stabilization for static low-light shots.
