Overview

The Yashica ML 200mm f/4 is a compact, well-built manual focus lens (535g) with blue coating (francotirador). Optically, it offers good center sharpness at f/4, improving by f/11, but corner sharpness is weaker and chromatic aberration appears, especially at edges. Wide-open softness was noted by one user (jjphoto). Vignetting and pincushion distortion are minimal and similar to the Zeiss counterpart. It suits photographers seeking a lightweight telephoto for general use, but those needing edge-to-edge sharpness or teleconverter compatibility may prefer alternatives.
