    The Soligor MC 28-80 mm f/3.5-4.5 is a well-built zoom lens with smooth handling, though some copies exhibit zoom creep. Optically, it is sharp at 28mm from f/4 and very sharp at f/5.6, with average corners; at 80mm, center sharpness is usable at f/4.5 but corners are soft until f/5.6. Macro mode offers 1:4 ratio but is cumbersome to focus and produces soft results at 80mm until f/8, with noticeable bokeh fringing and color shifts. The lens is flare-prone, requiring a hood.
