Overview

The Vivitar 7mm f/3.5 is a fully manual fisheye lens for APS-C cameras, also sold under Samyang, Rokinon, and other brands. Optically, it is sharp stopped down with above-average control of color fringing, light fall-off, and ghosting. However, it shows some color fringing at edges and is less sharp wide open in centers compared to the Sony 16mm fisheye. Build is all-manual with no electronic contacts unless chipped. Focusing is challenging on AF bodies due to vague focus screens and depth-of-field indicators; users often rely on hyperfocal or zone focusing. It suits enthusiasts wanting an affordable, creative fisheye for APS-C, especially for infrared or color work.
