Overview

The Minolta MD 50mm f/2 is a compact, lightweight lens with good build quality, though some plastic parts feel less premium. Optically, it offers excellent center sharpness from f/2.8 onward and very good corners by f/5.6–f/8, but wide-open corners are soft and contrast is low. Chromatic aberration is well-controlled, and distortion is negligible. Flare can be an issue when shooting into the sun, and bokeh is average. It suits landscape and street photographers seeking an affordable, sharp manual lens.
