Overview

The SLR Magic 8mm f/4 lens is compact and can be used in a set-it-and-forget-it manner, but suffers from extreme field curvature that results in soft edges even when stopped down, making focus difficult. The slim aperture ring rotates with the focus ring, and the rotating front element complicates filter use. At full price, it offers poor price-to-performance ratio. It may suit users who prioritize compactness and don't require sharp edges, but is not recommended for critical sharpness or filter-heavy workflows.
