35mm · f/2.8
The Carenar 35mm f/2.8 is an inexpensive vintage lens, likely an early Samyang production (MFlenses). Build feels robust but optical quality is inconsistent, with poor resolution and possible de-centering (casualcollector). Hill & Spruce Photography notes severe veiling flare, low contrast, and tricky focusing due to lack of contrast, though mechanics are smooth. Sharpness is never high, especially in corners. Surprisingly, it excels for landscapes, producing excellent tones and colors when edited, and portraits are colorful and reasonably sharp. It suits photographers seeking a cheap, characterful lens for creative effects, not technical perfection.
