Optically, it is soft wide open, especially in the corners, with chromatic aberration and low contrast; center sharpness improves by f/4, but corners remain soft. Flare handling is poor, producing large rainbow arcs, though bokeh is smooth and vignetting mild. It suits budget-conscious vintage shooters who prioritize build and character over sharpness.
