The Zhongyi Mitakon Creator 85mm f/2.8 1-5X Super Macro lens offers extreme magnification at a lower price than the Canon MP-E 65mm, but its optical performance has been controversial. An initial version suffered from severe softness and haze due to a miscalculated numerical aperture. A redesigned version significantly improved sharpness, though it still may not match the Canon at 5x. The lens is manual focus only and cannot focus to infinity.
