28–50mm · f/3.5–4.5
The Auto-Beroflex 28-50mm f/3.5-4.5 MC is a compact wide-angle zoom from around 1980, likely made by Cosina. It offers good center sharpness at 50mm f/4.5, but overall sharpness is slightly lower than comparable Nikkors, with comparable color and contrast. The push-pull zoom design is very compact, similar in size to a 50mm prime. However, the slow aperture makes focusing difficult in low light, and the green focus indicator may be unreliable. It suits users seeking a compact vintage zoom for well-lit conditions, but not for low-light or fast action.
