    Overview

    The Minolta MC W. Rokkor-HH 35mm f/1.8 (MC-I Version) is a character lens with excellent build quality, made of metal and glass. Optically, it offers high center sharpness wide open but low contrast and soft corners due to spherical aberration; stopping to f/2.8 improves contrast and sharpness, while f/5.6–f/8 yields best midframe sharpness with only extreme corners soft. Vignetting is high at f/1.8 (2.6 stops) but negligible by f/2.8, and flare resistance is poor. It suits photographers who value character and build over ultimate sharpness.
