Overview

The Vivitar Mirror 800mm f/8.0 DX is a compact, lightweight reflex lens with solid aluminum alloy build and a smooth focus ring. Optical quality is decent but not comparable to conventional telephoto lenses; center sharpness can be surprising, but contrast is low, especially in backlit conditions, and color rendition is pale. The fixed f/8 aperture and very thin depth of field make focusing extremely challenging, requiring a sturdy tripod, live view, and patience. Bokeh shows characteristic donut rings and is often considered unattractive. It suits budget-conscious photographers willing to work around its limitations for static subjects.
