8mm · f/3.1
The Samyang 8mm T/3.1 V-DSLR UMC Fish-eye II is a manual-focus, manual-aperture lens with a metal build and well-damped focus ring. Its optical strengths include a fast f/2.8 aperture and excellent depth of field: at f/8 and focus set to 1m-infinity, everything from 0.5m to infinity is sharp. Weaknesses are the lack of electronic contacts, so no EXIF data transfer, and focus peaking is useless because everything is in focus. It suits photographers wanting an affordable, compact fisheye for creative perspectives, especially on mirrorless systems where manual focus aids like focus zoom work well.
