50–200mm · f/4–5.6
The Schneider-Kreuznach D-Xenon 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED is a budget tele zoom for Samsung/Pentax DSLRs, nearly identical to the Pentax 50-200mm. Optically, it excels: SQF results were Excellent at all focal lengths, distortion was well-controlled (Imperceptible barrel at 50mm, slight pincushion at 100mm and 200mm), and light falloff was average. Build includes a metal mount but polycarbonate barrel; the zoom ring is fluid, but the focusing ring is underdamped and noisy, and AF is audible. It suits budget-conscious photographers seeking excellent optics in a lightweight, compact package, though long-term durability of the plastic body is a concern.
