Overview

The Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 80mm f/2.8 is a well-built medium format lens with metal construction, smooth aperture ring, and firm focusing. Optically, it delivers excellent contrast and color, with warm tones and good handling even at higher ISOs. However, used copies may have dust inside and uneven focusing requiring regreasing. Its 44mm equivalent field of view is versatile, making it a good normal lens for Pentacon Six users, especially when paired with 120mm and 180mm lenses. It suits photographers comfortable with manual operation and seeking classic Zeiss rendering on film or digital mirrorless.
