Overview

The Yashica Yashinon-DX 28mm f/2.8 offers superb central sharpness, but edge and corner performance falls off noticeably, especially compared to the more even S-M-C Takumar 28/3.5 (aoleg). Colors and contrast are punchy, flare resistance is great, and low-light performance is excellent wide open (aoleg). Build and handling are typical for a manual lens; it suits photographers who prioritize central sharpness and contrasty rendering and can work around soft edges, particularly on full-frame (aoleg). On crop sensors it performs well (MF-addicted).
