Overview

The Sigma AF 400mm f/5.6 Tele is a vintage lens from the 1990s, offering a 400mm prime for wildlife and sports. Optically, it can produce sharp images but suffers from purple/pink chromatic aberration in harsh light. It focuses down to 1.6m for 1:3 magnification. Build quality is good with a smooth manual focus ring, but the built-in hood is stiff and the AF/MF switch feels loose. At ~1.4kg it's manageable. It suits patient users on a budget who can work around its quirks, but may frustrate with missed shots.
