50mm · f/2
The Yashica Yashinon-DX 50mm f/2 is an all-metal, well-built M42 lens. Optically, it offers decent center sharpness wide open but soft corners, with a curved focal plane causing corner softness at infinity. Stopping down improves quality. It produces nice bokeh and vintage-looking images, but flares heavily in backlight. A key drawback is incompatibility with some M42 SLRs due to the rear element protruding. It suits photographers seeking a characterful, vintage rendering and who can work around its limitations.
