The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200mm f/2 G ED VR II is optically superb, offering extreme sharpness and minimal chromatic aberration, especially wide open. DxOMark rates it the sharpest Nikon lens tested, with negligible distortion and mild vignetting. However, it is very heavy at 2.9kg and has poor ergonomics for hand-holding due to a small lens foot. Build quality is tank-like but controls can be complex. It suits professionals needing fast, sharp telephoto for low-light sports, concerts, and portraits, but not those on a budget or weight-sensitive.
