    Overview

    The Promaster AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR EDO LD is a fast standard zoom for APS-C DSLRs, analogous to the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. It delivers excellent sharpness at f/2.8 across most focal lengths, softening at 50mm corners, and becomes very good to excellent at f/4. Chromatic aberration is generally low, with slight corner issues at 17mm; distortion ranges from 0.65% barrel to 0.37% pincushion. Build quality is solid with a plastic body, smooth zoom ring, and no zoom creep. It suits photographers seeking a compact, affordable, fast zoom for general use.
