    Overview

The Leitz Wetzlar Summicron-C 40mm f/2 is a compact, discontinued normal lens for Leica M-mount, originally produced for the Leica CL (1973–76). Optically, it delivers a classic image with slight chromatic aberration and characterful bokeh that some find wild or questionable. It is not pin-sharp wide open but performs well. Build quality is fantastic with an all-metal aluminum housing and 10-blade diaphragm, though the rubber collapsible hood and plastic focus tab are less durable. It is very small and light (120g), making it ideal for compact setups. The lens suits photographers seeking an affordable, vintage-feeling Summicron with unique rendering, especially on digital Ms with live view.
