400mm · f/6.7
The Leitz Wetzlar Telyt 400 mm f/6.8 is a lightweight (1830 g) handheld telephoto lens designed in 1968 for Leicaflex/R cameras, produced until 1994. Its optical strengths include superb contrast, colors, and sharpness (cdnguyen). Weaknesses: slow f/6.8 aperture requires good light. Build features a push-pull focus with a thumb lock and a two-part tube for portability. It suits wildlife and outdoor photographers on a budget, as it is affordable second-hand ($500–$1,000), but needs an adapter for modern digital cameras.
