The ФЭД-35 28mm f/4.5 is a pre-war Soviet wide-angle lens with a remarkable double Gaussian design of 6 elements in 4 groups, making it twice as fast as contemporary Leitz Hektor. Its optical strengths include a fast aperture for its era, but weaknesses stem from uncoated surfaces causing internal reflections. Build quality is fragile, with extremely thin elements prone to breakage, and the lens was quickly discontinued.
