Overview

The Nikon PC Nikkor 28mm f/4 is a manual perspective-control lens for film and FX digital cameras, designed for architectural and creative photography. Optically, it performs well when stopped down, but shift limits apply on FX; DX has no limits. Build is all-metal with a preset aperture ring and detents, but lacks tilt (Nikon Imaging notes early prototypes had tilt but it was omitted for simplicity). Handling is fully manual, requiring tripod use. It suits photographers needing shift for converging lines correction on a budget, though newer PC-E lenses offer more features.
