50mm · f/2.4
The Pentacon Prakticar 50 mm f/2.4 MC is a compact pancake lens (24mm long) ideal for mirrorless adapters, but its narrow, closely spaced aperture and focus rings challenge handling, even with gloves. Optically, it delivers surprisingly good center sharpness and contrast for a budget lens, with excellent detail between f/4–f/8, though extreme corners suffer from field curvature or astigmatism, and lateral chromatic aberration appears in out-of-focus areas. Distortions are well-corrected, and flare control is decent despite an exposed front element. It suits photographers prioritizing compactness over speed (f/2.4) and close focus (0.6m MFD), especially in good light.
